Flowers: Blue/Violet

Attributes: Butterfly nectar plant, Pollinator friendly, Drought tolerant

Flowers are very attractive as a nectar source for butterflies and beneficial insects. The name refers to the cylinder-shaped flower heads of this species. With their abundant flowers and tolerance of poor soils and dry conditions, Cylindric Blazing Star makes a dramatic and fairly care-free addition to a garden. Because it is a rare prairie and savanna plant in southwestern Ontario it should not be introduced into the wild.
